About the measrement of air flow related to a regenerative blower

When I use a cfm meter (Extech) and measure the air flow in cfm going into the compressor, I get a higher value coming out. What's up with that? How can more air come out than goes in? I'm confused.

Which one?

The ones I glanced at would require some sort of chamber or pipe of some definite size to properly measure airflow.

Depending on what you did, the meter is actually measuring air speed, so if you just put it in front of an outlet, it would tend to read higher and at the inlet due to differences in air velocity.
