a ridgid double stack 5 gallon air compressor

by tom wilbur

My air compressor spits out the dip stick when the air pressure stats to build up. Why does it do this and how can I fix it?

Teach it some manners, Tom?

The sump should have a vent hole somewhere to allow air in as the oil is consumed, which would allow air out then, too.

The vent hole likely has some sort of filter, and the filter and hole could be blocked.

Pressurized air getting into the sump could be symptomatic of piston seal wear, or an internal gasket / seal failure allowing pressurized air to bypass it into the sump area. Fixing the seal / gasket wear should resolve it.

Cheers,

Bill
