97080 Hot Dog compressor quit

by Craig Smith

Ran fine for a year, only occasional use. Maybe 3 hours total. Then it quit. It appears to be a thermal gadget mounted away from the motor that won't let current pass thru. Any idea what it is. I can't find it on a schematic.

OK.

Where do the wires go?

Are they hot, grounded, open?

Not the fuse.
by: Craig Smith

I've checked the fuse. I can trace current from either wire to a small black gizmo with 3 wires attached to it. Don't have a clue what it does, except that current doesn't pass thru it. It is clipped onto the motor mount, not the motor directly as I would expect a thermal switch to be.

Yeah, the drawing for this is pretty lame.

If you could post pix, it'd be nice.

What you're looking at could be thermal, but normally that would be in or on the motor, rather than apart..

So, could the thing you're talking about be the fuse box near the switch? It's supposed to be 3A (slo-blow, I'd guess).
