919.167620 runs great at start then freezes.

Craftsman air compressor runs great at startup then as building pressure slows down and it's like the belt starts hanging up or freezes and starts melting belt. Model #919.167620 33gallon

I don't KNOW of any spacer or adjustments.

If you don't want to spring for a new belt, go ahead and look for adjustments or someplace you might be able to add spacers. Just for s&g, you might try increasing the diameter of a pulley or idler by putting some tape around it, to see if that helps.

Good luck, and keep us posted, please.

It's plugged into the wall and there hasn't been any change in power and it runs smooth and quiet like it did new and the belt is a newer belt. Do you know if there are any spacers that go behind the pulleys. I bought this used and hoping I can figure it out without having to buy a new motor or call for service.

If the belt is melting, that suggest the motor is running, which suggests the belt may be too loose.

There's what appears to be a tensioner on it, which might be weak or broken (or may be adjustable), or maybe the belt is just shot. Unfortunately, the tensioner appears to be an integral part of the motor, so if that's the problem you be out of luck. But try a new belt before you give up on it,

All that assumes that it's not making bad noises, which could mean you have piston/ring problems.

Good luck and let us know what you find, OK?

Any change in the power supply, Josh?

Are you using an extension cord?

If no to both, you might want to check the capacitors. See the page on this site about how to do that.
