919.156610 has too much pressure on relief

I was just given this compressor yesterday. Owner bought it new, would pump up pressure but when pressure dropped, tried to pump but wouldn't run at full speed-I think is what he said.

He tried capacitors then was told that it was the check valve on tank from pump. This was years ago, hope he remembers correctly.

I got it to turn on but fittings on the tube from pump to tank were loose and leaking air.

Should I tighten and try or replace check valve.

Bad thing is he said relief valve was what someone told him was bad-too much pressure on pump to start up?????

What is the unloader valve?

Fittings and relief valve
by: Bill

Yes, tighten all fittings. If you want to remove and clean the check valve then that wouldn't be bad either.

Too much pressure on the relief valve will mean that the PRV will open and dump air, so that isn't it.

Do checks, fresh oil if this model takes oil, and then run it up to cut out.

Monitor the unloader valve. Did it work? Add a comment here.
