919152811 Craftsman Air compressor starts and runs for a few seconds then bogs down and up and down and up and doesnt build any pressure at all.

i have taken off the valve plates and on one of them 3 of the thin pieces of metal that covers the holes are lifted while the rest are flush,,could this cause it to run like it is.

im thinking its why its not building any pressure but not sure about why it boggs up and down,,the other valve plate looks perfect.

i hope I said the name of the pics I sent right if not I apologize but I believe their head plates off of the valve or reed ?

thanks,,,Jeff

Thanks for response

ok,, I will probably just try and find a rebuild kit for the pistons and replace all the gaskets I can see ,

the motor though will have to read to your response and see if I can figure anything out that way ,,

but thank you so much for your response,,,,Jeff

Sounds like your compressor has a few problems, Jeff.

The troubleshooting pages talk about compressors that bog down. See that page for help there.

As to not building pressure, that too is covered in the troubleshooting pages.

Typically it's air movement inside the piston and head of the pump that open and close the valves. That you've got some "stuck" open could very well be the cause of no pressure build up.

Make sure that you ensure that the gasket in the pump head is in good shape when you reassemble too.
