4hp 20 gallon charge air pro slows down

by Richard Breig

Starts fine but after about 30 seconds or so it slows down until the motor stops and then I assume the heat switch in the motor pops.

Wait a few minutes and it will do the same thing.

I took the regulator and gauges off to see if it would run and it did fine but as I cover the pipe and it starts to build pressure it slows down and stops.

You said "then I assume the heat switch in the motor pops." The thermal reset may be on the end of the motor, or may even be inside the motor housing, if there is one. Certainly, something is stopping the motor, and a thermal switch makes sense based on what you wrote.

See the troubleshooting page for the things to check for a compressor that won't build pressure and default to the cap after you have checked everything - do the easy stuff first - and then spring for a cap.

It's likely you've nailed it, but checking the intake suction, high pressure output etc. only makes sense.

Reset button
by: Richard

There is no reset button but I'm starting to believe it is the run capacitor it will build to 20 psi and starts slowing down and stops pulled the check valve in tank seems to be working fine and the Un loader works as it should releasing air when turned off
