2nd hand compressor, wont start at all

I've just bought a 2nd hand ABAC 200L 3hp compressor. Before i bought it i viewed it working, filling from empty and then i released the all the pressure from the drain valve.

Got the compressor home, give her a cleanup with a slightly moist cloth, new air filter, and totally emptied all air from drain... so much so that the valve on bottom the water trap seems to have opened itself somehow, doesnt need to be pressed to release water/air, its already open now ...confused.

Anyway, plugged her in, and now she will not turn on at all! Tried hitting the 'reset' button, to no avail.

What now?

Philip... what drain, the one at the bottom of the air tank, or the one on the bottom of the air filter. If the latter, it may be a float model, and, as such, doesn't require manual operation.

A few things to try. It's got a pressure switch, right? Any lever or arm on the pressure switch that might need to be set to on?

Are you certain you have power both to the pressure switch, and through the pressure switch to the motor, assuming that the pressure switch has tripped to supply power to the motor?

A 3HP motor likely has a start capacitor, and if all other things check out, this may be an issue.
