22 amp 230 volt compressor keeps burning up one contact in the switch

This compressor used to run every day for years with no problem. Had to replace the motor and it worked fine for over a year. Now, every few months it burns out one contact in the pressure switch. the other contact still looks new. Any thoughts?

Strange.

I suspect there is some problem with the motor.

Being a "new" motor, make sure it's wired right for 230 if it's optional.

As you likely know, the current through the contacts should be the same on both legs. With unit unplugged, you should see an open from the motor contact to ground. I suspect that you'll find a partial short on the one that's burning.

If not, you may have to use current (careful!) readings to determine the fault.

Good luck, and let us know what you find, please.
