2 H.P electric driven air compressor will not keep running

My 2 H.P air compressor which produce around six CFM is not working properly. the problem is that the 2 h.p motor of the compressor is stop automaticaly after running 2 or 3 min. please tell me solution hat i can do.

When the compressor stops, is the pressure switch tripping off, the motor going on reset, or other?

What is the pressure reading in the tank when the compressor stops.

 Starts, runs for short while, trips

Bill, if you are out there still. My compressor giving similar problems. Starts OK, runs for a couple minutes, coughs and stalls for a few seconds and then the motor trip switch shuts it off. If I leave it for a while I can re-start by re-setting trip switch, but at around 5 - 6 bar it coughs again, hums a bit and trips. I did replace the capacitor and it seemed to help for a while, but now worse than ever.

The humming sound is indicative of an electrical / motor problem. If the pump is sound, you have clean power, no extension cord, intake filter is clean, all wires connected (none loose or broken) then look to your motor for the problem.
