1971 IR rotary vane 6 cyl. Gas tow behind. Charges from 0-100psi very slowly. Used to charge in about 60 sec. Now takes over 5 min. And quickly needs recovery again. Trying to troubleshoot the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated

When it sat, did it have oil in it?

I can't really recommend using a solvent, but it's your machine...

I don't know the geometry of yours, but you may be able to check the vanes through the intake or exhaust - and possibly be able to exercise it or shoot something at it if you can tell it's stuck.

Maybe just run it unloaded for a spell to see if it works itself back to normal.

Worked perfectly 6 mns-yr ago. Has been sitting since. Slow to build pressure when started last week. Oil has been changed but is a tiny bit low when just checked, 1/2 gallon. Filter is good.
Air intake draws in air very slowly.
If the vanes are stuck is there a way to use a solvent or do we have to tear the machine down?

Aside from the usual - filter, oil -
could be the vanes are shot or stuck in their slots.

Did this start gradually, or suddenly?
