Negative. Look at this to see how, in general, it's supposed to work:

(you'll probably need to copy that into your browser)

That is part of this -

Which you may want to check out, as well.

Oil in air taps
by: Anonymousrobert phelps

THE THIN STEEL TUBE THAT GOES DOWN INTO THE CENTRE OF SEPERATOR IS ACTUAL PUMping OIL IN
Am i looking at wrong thing
The reason i know this is because when i put it back together i didn't tighten top hydo hose in fact i never connected it,started compressor up an it pumped fluid out of the hose which indicated to me that oil is pumped into the centre of the seperator
Is this correct

scavenger

It's the one that (should be) sticking down to the inside bottom of the separator - That is further connected to the vacuum end of the air-end, and sucks excess oil from the filter area.

It can stick itself to the bottom if it's too close.

There is a 6mm push fit tube

Another hydrolic tube that to tighten with a 17 mm spanner

Have you checked that the scavenger tube is unobstructed and in the correct position?

just an update... -:) Always wondered why the factory spent so much money printing those manuals describing the scheduled service intervals... I know why now!... Compressor has been running like a top for 3 months now (fingers crossed)...

Thank you all.

It has been running fine good for several weeks now

It has been running fine good for several weeks now, so I believe we may have dodged the bullet for now. Thank you for the help. I want to thank Doug for his post and Bill for having this site ... Duh... what do I know now, is that I should have serviced it before and changed that filter while doing specified maintenance.

Thank you both.

Separator...
by: Raul

After your comment, I READ the manual and saw where it stated the changing of the separator filter... I always read the manual... yeah...Right...

I thank you for your enlightening reply... That took care (I believe) of that problem, but while testing, the shaft seal blew out... is it that it is now generating more cfms?

sell, new seal is on the way, and will be able to test some more...

Thank you for the help.

Usually the separator.

Has routine maintenance been performed?
