10hp 3phase 120gallon horizontal, new motor under heavy load (blows breakers)

THE MOTOR STARTS BUT THEN COMPRESSOR STALLS MOTOR. IF YOU PULL THE SAFETY VALVE FOR 3-6 SECONDS ON ONE OF THE HEADS, IT WILL BUILD THE RIGHT PRESSURE, BUT NEXT TIME IT STARTS SAME THING, I HAVE TO PULL VALVE TO GAIN RPMS THEN RELEASE TO BUILD PRESSURE. I THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A COPPER LINE OFF OF ONE OF THE HEADS TO SOME WHERE. THERE IS SOME NEW FITTINGS ON THE HEAD AND A NEW SAFETY VALVES. I THINK THAT THERE IS SOMETHING TO PURGE PRESSURE IN THE HEADS.

Matt, I suspect what you may be missing is an unloader valve, which purges pressure between starts, making the pump easier to start.

All I can suggest is you start a new thread with some photos (up to 4) of the compressor and pump, so folks can see what you have in the way of an air compressor, and can then offer specific suggestions if they can.

Cheers,

Bill
