I also have your model, bought it new from Grainger. It is a 2 cylinder, 3HP compressor. You can put a smaller motor on it, but it's designed for a max of 3 HP. My old manual is oil soaked so I cannot copy it for you.

Motor too small?
by: Matt

I have the 2z630b and it has a 1hp electric motor. I am also wondering if it is too small. It builds 80 psi and basically stalls. I was told at my local electric motor dealer that i need a 30 amp breaker. It does kick out a 20 amp breaker but not a 30 amp... They just rebuilt my 1hp motor and it does stall. Wondering if i need a larger motor...

Hi Kevin. With a 1/2 HP motor, you can expect to generate around 1.5 - 2 or so CFM of compressed air at 90 PSI.

I can't be specific as I don't have the specs for the compressor available.

You might also want to check with Grainger's tech department. See the SPEEDAIRE page for help finding your local distributor.

Cheers,

Bill

Hello,

I have an Speedaire Air Dryer, air is leaking out of the drain. Need replacement parts. Do you have any thoughts of where these parts might be available?

Hello Justin. The obvious recommendation is to contact the source, and that's Grainger. Click the Speedaire link from the nav bar for info on how to find your local Grainger outlet.

See if they can help, and I've posted this so if anyone else has some info they can add it too.

Cheers,

Bill

If you haven't checked with Grainger, since this is their house brand compressor, you should. Click the Speedaire link to get help on finding your local outlet.

I've posted this now, so hopefully someone can advise where else to get a part.

I don't know what the intake filter looks like, but if you can open it up, first try to clean the element.

If it can't be cleaned, then buy a furnace filter, and cut it to fit the intake filter housing.

As far as I'm concerned, that will work just fine, and probably save you some dough.

Cheers,

Bill

3Z198 compressor
by: Donald

I saw your post on the air filters for your 3Z199 compressor, I have a 3Z198 5 hp single stage with what looks to be a 50 gallon tank. I'm in need of parts for the compressor "Valves, gaskets, etc... I'm not sure if they are the same compressor but they sound similar. I have new filters on mine and I think the part # are probably still on them. If you could contact me @ dlewis1@wildblue.net I would appreciate it. We could possibly be of assistance to each other. thanks
