Piping - I plan to leave this compressor in the basement of my house

To whom it may concern;


I am new to the compressed air game. I have a Husky 30 Gallon, 2.0 HP 135 PSI (Max)vertical compressor delivering 5.5 SCFM @90 PSI. Since I don't have a garage, I plan to leave this compressor in the basement of my house. However, I wish to drill a hole through the masonary wall and run a pipe outside to the drive way so I don't have to haul the compressor up a flight of stairs everytime I need it. This way I can connect my compressor to the fitting in the basement and connect an air tool to the fitting in the driveway. My question is this: What size and type of pipe ( OD and ID ) should I use to go through a 16 inch masonary wall? It will be permenantly mounted. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Phil...thanks for writing in.

Whether your pipe is permanently mounted or not, really has no relevance on what size you need. It simply means (to me at least) that you want to make sure that the permanent installation is large enough...right?

First off, know that you will get condensation in the vertical runs of compressed air line (as well as any horizontal runs), and that water will run downhill to somewhere. So, when you come off your compressor, consider a general purpose filter first, and then go into a Tee installed vertically. The run off the top will go up to your garage, and a small run off the bottom should end in a valve that will allow you to open the line to atmosphere and drain it.

Piping a 20 gallon 5 H.P. compressor

I have a craftsman model no. 919.176850 20 Gallon 5 H.P. 240 volt single phase compressor that is on wheels in my two car Garage. How do I pipe this and what do I need to pipe this Filter, Regulator, Lubricator, shut off valves. could you provide a drawing?

The same concepts apply for plumbing a compressor for your workshop or garage as they do for an industrial plant.

The scale changes certainly, as do the numbers of each component you may need.

Air compressor motor is overloaded when running together with another same air compressor on one air line

Two air compressors (Sullair 5500) are connected together on one air line to feed pressure 120 psi.

Notice that there is no check valve on the line or @ compressors outputs.

When running the 2 compressors together one as Master and the other as slave, The slave compressor motor makes overload fault and stopped.

When runnig each one alone separetly , it works well and doesn't make overload.

So. What are precautions which should be taken to run the two air compressors together ???

Aldo, again, nice photo, but nothing to do with the site or question.

Try putting a one way (check valve) in the outflow lines of both compressors before they join.
