Greg, you've got a compressor problem that many other folks have had as well.

On the site map page, Troubleshooting, there is a section about no air out of hose. Have a look for some tips.

Cheers,

Bill

c2002 type 4 - No air at hose connection.

by Ian

My pump works fine. It fills the tank with air and the gauge confirms this. No leaks as it maintains the pressure.

Regulator gauge is stuck in the same position and won't move even when all air is removed from tank. There is no air available at either of two outlets.

I have a porter-cable c2002 type 4.

Thinking the regulator valve is stuck closed or some such. Can I remove it and disassemble it?

Ian, what is the pressure reading on the regulator gauge? Typically, if you drain the air from the tank, as the pressure in the tank falls below the set point of the regulator, the regulator gauge will follow the pressure down to zero. That your gauge does not move suggests you have a broken or seized gauge to me.

Yes you can remove the regulator. Of course, then you will not be able to regulate the downstream air pressure.

See the regulator pages for info about how they work, and how to ensure that the adjustment knob is actually doing something when you turn it.

Also, see the page linked from the troubleshooting section on the site map about no air at hose coupling.

Cheers,

Bill

how to wire regulator for model c2002 Porter Cable air compressor

Does not cut off

Using my terminology, you don't wire the regulator, as it is air operated.

What I suspect you refer to is the compressor pressure switch.

Before you spend the money buying a new one of those, do check and make sure that it is the pressure switch that is the problem.

See the troubleshooting section on the sitemap page, and follow the link to the page about why air compressors don't build pressure for some checks.

Post a comment here with your findings if you wish.
