Emglo GU series literally pumping fresh oil into the tank and lines.

Emglo pump GU series. Compressor is really pumping a LOT of oil into the tank. It's using oil frantically almost like it's sucking the oil right out of the sump. Rebuild?

Assuming there is no direct connection between the oil sump and the air tank (and there normally isn't) then the oil must be wicking past the piston seals. I would certainly be tearing down the pump if this were happening to me.

Cheers,

Bill

I'm pumping oil also
by: Bob

I put in new rings, loaders, valves, etc... still pumping oil. The kit I got had the oil ring and two compression rings. One had squared edges and the other a beveled (chamfered ). So in which of the two upper ring grooves does the beveled ring go and which way does the beveled face? I talked to a De Walt tech and he said their kit has both rings beveled and the bevel faces up. I am confused my friend!

Bob

If the correct kit has two beveled rings, and yours has one, makes me wonder what kit you got? I'm not sure how to answer you, Bob, ans if the company tech says one thing, it isn't my place to argue that, and so I am confused too. Anyone else?

Small amount of oil in tank.

Hilti - Emglo air compressor

Hilti - Emglo air compressor

Bought an old "Hilti manufactured by Emglo" compressor. It looks like the current Emglo or dewalt compressor. 4 gallon twin tank design with the handle on top.

After letting it build pressure I emptied most of the pressure through the blower then Opened the safety valve on lower tank and the drain valve on upper tank to drain tanks.

Noticed a little oil come out of the lower tank when draining. Not a whole lot 1/2 an ounce at the most.

I know I read that oil in the tank is a sign of ring wear just wondering how much is acceptable and if it will hurt my bostitch oil-less nailer?

Not sure if the previous owner ever drained the tanks etc didn't get anything from the top tank.

Do they make an inline filter I should add or should I wait to see if more accumulates? Plan on changing the oil right away but very surprised at the condition of it being 12 yrs old or better. I wiped it off briefly almost looks new.

About the acceptable level of oil in the compressor tank, Brad - the issue really is, does the compressor still supply air at the design flow and pressure? If yes, then the amount of oil is immaterial, as long as you are monitoring the compressor lubricating oil level and maintaining the fill at the correct level.

The more oil that wicks down into the tank, the more compressor oil that can flow downstream to your air tools.

Yes, I believe that the compressor lubricating oil will damage many downstream components, including your nailer.

See the section on coalescent filters for information on getting the oil out of the air lines.

Bill

If you are trying to wire the pressure switch, look under the switch cover for a diagram.

There may be schematics for the motor on the motor plate, if there is one.

Or, call Emglo @ 1-888-883-6456
