Husky 26 gallon vertical air compressor - turned over a few times then blew a breaker

by Kacie
(Pittsburgh, Pa)

used my compressor today to pump up a tire. when the compressor tried to kick on to pump up to pressure it turned over a few times then blew a breaker. I've had it on the same outlet for two years and it always run fine.. it's not on a extension cord either. I emptied the tank of all air, tried again and the same thing.. turns a few times, really slow but then either trips its own reset or the house breaker. Suggestions?

Yup, check the capacitor. See the page linked from the site map for help. That's what it sounds like to me, Kacie.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill... again :) When I first contacted you about my problem you suggested testing it on another outlet. I found that I could get the compressor to work. that has lasted until recently when now the only way I can get it to work is by completely draining it of air. it will then kick on an fill completely. but to get it to run again without kicking it's reset is by draining it over again. You also had suggested a capacitor before. according to the manual parts list there isn't one. sorry if that sounds rather dumb on my part.
Thanks for the help!

Good that you have the manual! From it, you can perhaps tell me what model air compressor this is? I know it is a Husky compressor, but what model?

by frank r.
(glendale , az)

a husky (6) gallon 1.5 h.p 135 lbs. it was working fine and now it doesn't fill with air.

Hi Frank...

That's got to be a bit annoying?

Please click the comment button and let me know, is the compressor running, and it doesn't fill with air?

Any air in the tank at all, doesn't start, what is the condition of the compressor while it doesn't fill.

Cheers,

Bill

Husky compressor WL651900AJ will not build up air?

by Susan
(Macclenny, Florida US)

I know nothing about compressors. I have a Husky 1.7 HP, 150 psi, Model # WL651900AJ AGMO2 Serial # L8/26/2008--18847 Pump # WL390100AJ. When I turn the compressor on it will crank up but, both gauges remains at 0. Motor runs but, does not sound like compressor is kicking in to build up air.

When you say this "does not sound like compressor is kicking in to build up air", if the motor is running and the motor is connected to the pump, then the pump is running too.

That the pump is not driving air into the tank may be as a result of the issues on the noted troubleshooting pages.

Cheers,

Bill
