compressor will not stop building pressure.

Jimmy, if what you are saying is that your air compressor starts OK, and runs, and runs, and continues to build pressure until the PRV releases, then I think you need to get a new pressure switch, fast!

If this is not the problem, it would be useful if you could give me your new problem definition as a comment here, so that I can follow our discussion as we try to figure out what is happening (or not happening) with your air compressor.

Cheers,

Bill

compressor keeps pumpining untill relief valve kicks out

compressor keeps pumpining untill relief valve kicks out .is there any adjustments

I am understanding that your air compressor runs and runs, and the air pressure in the tank continues to rise until the PRV lets go. If that is correct, that typically means your pressure switch has a problem.

If this is a new problem then no, no adjustment will fix this. I suspect either the pressure switch needs to be repaired or replaced, and since finding parts for a pressure switch is a pain, replacement might be easier for you.

If the compressor continues to run until the motor kicks off on thermal overload, but the pressure in the tank rises to a level (below cut out) and never reaches the cut out setting, then that's another series of issues.

Post additional information here as a comment if you wish.

Cheers,

Bill

My air compressor will not cut off anymore. It is a porter cable 150 psi, 6 gallon. What could be the problem??
_______________
Dana, I take it your air compressor runs and runs, but never reaches the normal cut out pressure?
