Loading unloding problem

by pramod
(india)

dear sir

i had solenoid valve issue in my electric screw compressor 30 KW,
the unloading operation is not proper.

when i clean solenoid valve the load unload happens.
is it because of the moisture?

do i need moisture trap before solenoid valve ?

Pramod, not knowing any real details about your air compressor, I can say that yes, if you have any air driven equipment, at the very least, a general purpose compressed air filter will help remove particulates and free water from the compressed air stream.

When you clean the unloader, what are you finding in it?

Cheers,

Bill

CAN THE UNLOADER VALVE BE ADJUSTED

by ANDREAS
(LANSING MI. INGHAM)

CAN THE UNLOAD ER VALVE BE ADJUSTED, TO STAY OPEN FOR A FEW MILLISECONDS TO HELP THE ELECTRIC MOTOR GAIN SOME SPEED AT THE START OF A CYCLE?
____________________
Andreas, the unloader valve is open until the compressor motor begins to start. The motor is already starting without load as the air over the piston has been voided. The motor should have no problem starting then. If it does, there is something wrong with the motor, the power supply, the pump... something.

Therefore, I see no reason to implement some sort of timing cycle to let the compressor motor "come up to speed". If it doesn't do that automatically, typically, something is not working properly.

Cheers,

Bill

UNLOADER VALVE
by: Fred Drake

what is the "UNLOADER VALVE" I have the smallest Crapsman compressor and where is this found or what does it look like, Does this model even have one??
Fred
____________
Please see the Unloader Valve page linked from the site map page for info on what they are. As to whether or not your compressor has one, since I don't know the model, and I don't recognize the make, I don't know.

tanks pressure tips reset on motor

by Nathan
(Iowa)

I have a smaller, portable air compressor (can't remember what brand/model) that keeps tripping the reset on the motor IF there is pressure on the tank.

So, initial startup works great. As I deplete the tank pressure the motor tries to kick on. Acts extremely bogged down and will kick the reset on the motor before building any pressure. If I drain the tank pressure to zero, the motor starts right up and builds pressure as expected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
_____________
Sure Nathan. Wander over to the unloader valve section on the site map page, and follow the links. From what you've written, I suspect your unloader valve isn't working properly. If it is, post a comment here to let me know, will you?

Cheers,

Bill

continuous run unloader valve - operation of Load Genie

by Tim
(Wisconsin)

Can you educate me on the function, operation and installation of a unloader valve in a continuous run application?

www.grainger.com/Grainger/CDI-CONTROL-DEVICES-Continuous-Run-Load-Genie-4TK14

Well Tim, the Load Genie does what the page says... " Continuous Run Unloader Control Converts any pressure switch control compressor to a constant speed unloader type. Can be applied to any 30 cfm or less electric or gas engine-driven compressor. 60 to 250 adjustable psi range preset to cut in at 95 psi and out at 115 psi. Contains: pilot valve, check valve, and suction or vent unloader valve."

Additional info from the Milton website is "A load genie is a combination un-loader and check valve. Unloads discharge manifold in either vertical or horizontal position of any compressor when compressor cycles and flow stops. Efficient,
quiet, economical and eliminates tubing/fittings of conventional pressure switch un-loader."

I have requested installation and use instructions from Milton, and will add them when I get a response.

The product seems to be redundant as far as I am concerned as air compressors typically come equipped with both unloader valves and check valves. I will provide more info when I receive it.

Cheers,

Bill

Continuous run unloader operation
by: Jim McC

I understand that the unloader relieves the pressure on the compressor when the compressor stops.

Does it also relieve the pressure on the compressor when the tank pressure reaches the cut out pressure to reduce horse power requirements or does it simply maintain the cut out pressure on the compressor discharge?
