James, you need some help from Atlas Copco, I think. I have posted this in the hope that someone else with a similar compressor can post some assistance for you.

I also hope that you were able to get a copy of the manual.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Zydman... if I understand correctly your compressor runs for a while but the temperature keeps climbing to the point where it goes off on thermal overload?

Pretty hard to try and diagnose this issue via this posting. It could me many reasons that are involved, and I have no idea about what really is happening on your compressor from your posting.

My friend, you need some professional compressor service I think. Check the Repairs page to see if there is a company listed that is near you.

And of course, I ask other Atlas Copco compressor owners to comment if they can help.

Cheers,

Bill

Compressor running warm - burnt oil smell?

Atlas corp air compressor running warm - burnt oil?

we have an atlas corp air compressor that is running warm, when we changed the oil a few months ago we found some burnt oil in it, and removed all we could, but feel there is more still in there

Do you know it's running warm, or just think it is?

Is it burnt oil, or just used up oil?

Regardless, if it were my air compressor, I would drain all the oil and replace it with new.

Then I would use a surface temperature indicator to tell me if the motor is, according to the specs, actually running above acceptable operating temperatures.

If it is, increasing load or motor wear would be considerations for me.

Cheers,

Bill
