Husky 6 gallon model # H1506F how is the top unscrewed

Four screws hold the top in place , believe torx heads only seem to turn and turn with no results in removing them.

Hi there.

Sorry, I haven't a clue what the problem is. Why not send in your question again and include a photo so we can all see what's what.

Other advice certainly welcome.

Cheers,

Bill

The 4 bolts I think you are asking about are 5mm allen head.

Huskey cover screws
by: oldfortyniner

The cover screws on my Husky #H1506F air compressor are M6-1.00 socket head cap screws that need a long 5mm allen wrench; the 3/16" allen worked for me, as it is just 0.009" undersized versus the 5mm. I did notice that 2 of the 4 screws had slightly buggered threads after getting them out; this likely was caused by continual turning after they came disengaged but before they were removed from the deep well in the black plastic compressor housing. To prevent this, tip the Husky on its side and then untighten the screws. If you have to buy the allen wrench, you might as well get the correct size-the 5mm-and get one that is about 5.5-6" long. If you have an M6-1.00 die then I suggest cleaning any buggered threads before reinstalling; after all, the Husky is made in China and Chinese hardware us often substandard.

Allen wrench is what you need
by: drpsyd

the four bolts need a 3/16 allen wrench to remove. the problem is they are deeply set. I just hammered out my curved allen wrench and put it in a socket/ratchet with an extension. this worked fine. the truth is all i needed was the extension with the allen wrench attached. the screws were very easy to turn.

Thanks drpsyd, I appreciate the help.

Husky from Home Depot Compressor stalls over 20 psi

by John Reding
(Hillsboro, Oregon)

I have a three year old Husky from Home Depot. It runs from 0 to 20-22 psi with no problem, but then the motor slows dramatically, working very hard, and overheats (the belt slips enough to produce a burning rubber odor).

If the copper tube is disconnected from the outlet of the compressor, the motor and compressor run free air just fine.

The check valve at the end of the copper tube (threaded into the tank) appears to work fine. It depresses and closes easily.

Could there be a problem with the outlet valves on the compressor? I also installed another motor thinking there was a problem with the run capacitor, but the new one also overheats. Can you help???

John

Hi John:

You've already done everything I would do to try and diagnose the problem.

It seems clear that the problem is being caused by the increased load your compressor head and motor are seeing as the pressure in the receiver mounts.

The only thing you haven't done is rebuild the compressor head... and I suspect that this is where your problem lies.

At what point do you decide to buy a new compressor and move on? It depends on your mechanical skill set and your time availability.

In your case, sounds like you should be contacting Husky (if you can find them) to be buying parts for the head.

Cheers and good luck,

Bill

I have a husky pro 60 gallon 3.2hp oil is mix with the air

(Oswego illinois USA)

Oil is mix with the air that comes out of the hose . What gaskets need to be replace to correct that problem
_________________
Depending on the age of the compressor, and the amount of use, the piston rings / seals can wear and allow oil up from the sump into the air going into the tank, along with air going into the sump and venting out the oil fill tube.

Some compressor lubricating oil will always get into the air.

If the volume of oil you are seeing is increasing, that indicates that the piston seals are becoming increasingly worn and more oil is getting by.

As long as you are topping up the oil in the sump, and you are using a coalescent filter to remove the oil before it gets to air tools or equipment, then press on.

If the oil loss is great, I suspect replacing the piston seals will help that, as long as the cylinder walls aren't scored.

I am happy to post your request in the hope that someone out there has a manual that they will share.

If you haven't asked Home Depot yet, please do. If they cannot help you with a manual, perhaps you might let them know that the availability of support for products is important to you, and that you will make buying decisions in future based on who gives the best support.

Cheers,

Bill
