I have Dayton Speedaire Model # 322198. On the compressor the oil cap or screw that you put oil in to is broken. I don't have the part number. Its made out o red plastic. I tried sears, air compressor company but can't find that part anywhere, can you tell me where I can get that part?

Your air compressor is sold by Grainger. The Speedaire page on this site provides guidance to finding your local source, and what you need to know to get the right part.

is one qt. of oil to much

Frank, the specs say how much oil normally. Yet, most air compressors have either a sump dip stick or a sight glass. Which does yours have?

See OIL issues on the site map page for more info.

oil spec - use Tellus T46 oil in a 1NNF6 Speedaire compressor?

Hi There

Can I use Tellus T46 oil in a 1NNF6 Speedaire compressor?

I'm no oil expert, but a quick review shows that this oil is used for hydraulic performance, and is not rated as a lubricating oil.

If the question is can you use it instead of compressor oil in the oil sump of your compressor pump, it were me, I would not do it.

Your compressor will use (unless the piston seals are shot) very little lube oil. I'd use a general purpose compressor oil if I didn't have the oil that Speedaire specified for that compressor.

Other views are welcome, of course.

Cheers,

Bill

what type oil and how much for a speedaire 3Z494 compessor?

Gary,, is your air compressor is the 3.5 HP / 220 volt, single cylinder Speedaire?

Regardless, you can't tell from a model number what the oil capacity is, unless you have the manual. That's your first choice for info on oil.

Failing that, drain the existing oil, and use that as a guide. Or, when refilling, use the oil-level gauge that is usually part of the oil dipstick, or the level on the sight glass.

As to the type of oil, first go with the recommendation of Grainger, and failing that, buy compressor lubricating oil from your local shop. I would think a liter/quart would be lots.

Cheers,

Bill
